UFC 100

This fight card is one of the greatest fight cards every put together by the UFC, my hats off to Dana White. Two championship fights as well as an experienced undercard should make for one hell of a night for MMA.

Dan Henderson, the former Pride champion, is going against Michael Bisping. Bisping has a record of 18-1 and should give Henderson, 24-7, a great fight. Henderson is 38 yrs. old and on the downside of a great career and it remains to be seen if he has enough left in the tank to handle Bisping's excelent conditioning and heart. Henderson does have knockout power in both hands which always makes for an excellent fight.

Georges St. Pierre is fighting Thiago Alves for the 170 lb championship. GSP is considered by most the best fighter at 170 lbs. He has great takedown defense and jiu jitsu as well as top notch conditioning. GSP will need every bit of his skill to defeat Thiago Alves, who is coming off a monster knockout of UFC legend Matt Hughes. Alves is a Muay Thai figher and would be best served standing and trying to knockout the smaller GSP. If GSP can takedown Alves look for GSP to ground and pound his way to another TKO.

The main event of UFC 100 is Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir. This fight is a big question mark in my book. Lesnar defeated Randy Couture for the heavyweight championship last year, but not without the much smaller Couture opening a cut on Lesnar's face and seeming to be able to stand and pound with the 270 lb Lesnar for quite some time. It remains to be seen if Lesnar has continued to progress in his developement as a fighter or if he will try to simply overpower Mir. Frank, on the other hand, is making a triumphant comeback to the top of the lightheavyweight division after a terrible motorcycle accident. After a couple bad losses and his serious accident, Mir had given up on mma altogether. But a pep talk from his wife got him back into the ring, and has him on the verge of becoming the UFC undisputed heavyweight champion.
